You are invited to take part in the event Citizen Science Competency framework. This questionnaire is part of the European Union funded project “European Citizen Science” (ECS) - https://eu-citizen.science/ecs_project.
The project is running from August 2022 to July 2026, and it was funded as part of the European Union funding programme for research and innovation (Horizon Europe). Specifically, the funding to this project is part of the European Union effort to link science to society and society to science.
The project’s objectives are to increase the capacity of European society to engage the public in scientific research in an approach called “citizen science”. This means that people who are not carrying out scientific research in their daily lives get involved in research projects – they can ask the research questions, get involved in data collection, analysis, or use the results.
The ECS project is increasing capacities to carry out citizen science projects through a range of activities. These include running events to increase awareness or skills; providing a platform with information and resources (eu-citizen.science); running a range of training activities to increase knowledge and skills; supporting policy-oriented activities to integrate citizen science at national and local levels; and providing the necessary knowledge to provide technical support to citizen science activities – for example, data management.
The questionnaire in which you are participating in is part of the project’s activities to increase awareness or skills, provide a platform with information and resources, and run a range of training activities to increase knowledge and skills. It is part of the project’s endeavour to develop a European Citizen Science Academy. As part of our commitment to the funder and for the purpose of evaluating our progress, we are collecting evidence about the project such as the background of participants, their gender, their education level etc. We will ask you to provide us with this information.
